When St George-Illawarra entered the National Rugby League as a joint venture club in 1999, both sides of the franchise had a rich history.

St George had been in the competition since 1921, while the Illawarra region had provided several greats of the game before entering the league as a stand alone club in 1982.

Players such as Norm Provan, Reg Gasnier, Ken Kearney, Johnny King, Eddie Lumsden, Graeme Langlands, Rod Reddy and Craig Young were pivotal in the success of St George.

Illawarra produced their own stars such as Rod Wishart, John Simon, Trent Barrett and Paul McGregor.  The merger has seen stars emerge such as Nathan Blacklock, Brett Morris, Luke Bailey, Ben Hornby, Mark Gasnier and Matt Cooper.

Relive each year of all three clubs in a round by round account of the premier rugby league competition.  Including statistical information, this is a must for rugby league fans everywhere.
