A History of the Newtown Jets

A$19.99

Newtown was the first rugby league club formed in Australia, as the new competition broke away from rugby union in 1908.  The Bluebags won three titles between 1910 and 1943, before falling on hard times.

Rebranded as the Jets in 1973, Newtown had a last tilt at the premiership in the 1981 Grand Final.  Two years later, the club folded, under crippling debt, but returned in 1990 to play in lower tier leagues.

Players such as Viv and Bill Farnsworth, Herb Narvo, Frank Farrell, Gordon Clifford, Dick Poole, Brian Moore, Ken Wilson, Lionel Williamson, Phil Sigsworth, and Tom Raudonikis are forever etched in Newtown folklore.

Relive each year of Newtown’s journey in a round by round account of the premier rugby league competition.  Including statistical information, this is a must for rugby league fans everywhere.
